The clay designs you see on this site are inspired by nature. My ceramics technique has been developed over twenty years, and now my pieces can be found in many private collections in Australia, Europe, Asia and America.

Each year I work as an ‘Artist in Residence’ at Uluru [Ayers Rock], and now find my work in many private collections both overseas and in Australia.

When I combine underglazes and the scrafitto technique I have developed, the surface of the clay comes to life.Spider like lines connect patterns that represent the Spinifex grass [a grass which is native to central Australia] as it grows in concentric circles. Seed pods, grass, leaves and other flora found in the desert at Uluru are also found in my designs.

Each design is an original. Colours can be requested, but artistic expression is purely my domain.

Method:

My clay shapes are formed by pouring liquid clay into a plaster mould, and when sufficient water has been absorbed by the mould, the clay form is then released from the mould. I then clean the form, and prepare the surface for painting.

Underglazes are applied to the surface of the form, and it is than bisqued fired. The form is then glazed, and refired at 1100 degrees centigrade.Various forms are available, from small plates and bowls to large platters, vases, bowls and sculptured shapes.

Shipping of each item can be arranged, and is subject to the weight, size and destination of each piece.

Insurance during shipping is advisable. As each clay piece is individually designed and recorded, I am able to replace your order in the unlikely event of breakage during shipping.

Included on the site, are some of the many forms available.

I am often asked to design a number of pieces that co-ordinate with each other [I call it a ‘corner concept’]. Just click on ‘Corner Concepts’ for examples.
